Rockport, TX - Bay Fishing

Fishing with Norman Spears is not like fishing with the average Rockport guide.  You’re fishing with a true Rockport “Local”.  Being a fourth generation of Rockport, Norman has fished in every spot and method imaginable.  His love of the water began when Norman was too young to reel in the big ones of yesteryear, but it was definitely enough to get him hooked on fishing. “I remember riding along in the boat with my Father and Grandpa as we poled the flats and casted dead peeled shrimp at tailing redfish.”  It wasn’t long after those days that he convinced his father he was ready to go alone, Norm’s favorite soon became wade fishing in St. Charles Bay, which produced Norman’s first redfish on a gold weedless spoon. “There’s nothing quite like being in the water with the fish and spotcasting a tailing redfish or busting a big sow trout with a noisy topwater.”  The landings of fish Norm brought in caught the attention of local area guides. One guide in particular,

Howard Brown, convinced Norm in 1985 to buy a boat and start guiding weekends and summer. Norman connected with a local boat builder named Larry Pearce to make a 22 foot welded aluminum flat bottom skiff. It didn’t take long for Norman to shift his love for fishing from catching fish to watching customers catch fish. Since the Summer of 1986, Norm has continued to please his customers. So book a fishing trip today and let Norm guide you through special techniques and places to catch the memory of a lifetime.
